Tuesday

"You,

I always seem to do the same thing. Run to God only when I'm heart broken, then allow Him heal my heart, only to run away again. Then I find myself sluggishly climbing back into His lap with tears on my face.
It's been quite sometime since I've last ran to God, and now I'm been broken again but I can't seem to find God's lap. I don't even know if I truely want to find it. I'm obsessed with meeting you, my future husband. So much so that I forget the One who is going to lead me to you. How can you find the treasure without the map? Or at least the right treasure. Right now I need to stop searching for you, and start looking for the lap I so desperatly need to climb up on.
Who knows, maybe God doesn't entend for me to be married, maybe you don't exist. But I hope you do because I love you already.
Right now I'm saving my heart for that lap, keeping it safe in God's hands. I'm handing over the pen for Him to write my love story, to Him who wrote the most beautiful love story between a Savior and His people. I'm sure He can handle it."

Saturday

busy busy.

Wow! I haven't posted in a while!
it's been a busy summer. Er... really I should say a slow summer with weeks of extreme business!
The first part of the summer was busy in preparing for our Youth camp.
Ok so because of youth camps being so expensive, our church decided to put on our own. this year it was just our church but because it went so well we will most likely will have other churches joining us next year.
So the camp was... well amazing. I have never been to youth camp before... and this year I had the privilege of going as a  camp leader/counselor. I was also a bible study leader. I grew a lot closer to the youth in my group, and learned quite a bit from them. The theme of the week was what our soul craves (we went through Erwin McManus' book). I may post more about that week later

So next up is a mission trip to Conneticut. I am soo excited for this. I went last year (and it was my first mission trip) and it was such a blessing. the only thing I'm NOT so excited about is a 2-day Bus trip up there. day and night. with 30 people. but even though it might be cramped... it still should be fun.(:

and then... at the beginning of August I am going to a pre-teen camp, where I will be the photographer for the week, and a friend of mine the videographer. (:
Each night we put together a short video with pictures and clips of the day so that the kids can see themselves the next day. Then at the end of the week we make one of the whole week, and burn them on DVD's to give to each church group that came so that when they come home they have an already made video to show their church if they would like.
I did this last year, and I am so excited to see the kids that we got close to!

oh and in a few weeks our puppet group is doing a show at a library, and we only have two weeks to prepare! So needless to say my mother and I, have been busy writing and making all the props to a whole new show... pretty hectic!

well that's all for now, although I'm sure something else will be added to the list...
but I'm excited about what God has accomplished, and what he has in store!

Set Apart This Dream

by Flyleaf

Close your eyes little girl
You're a princess now
You own this world
Twirling in your twirly dress
You're the loveliest far above the rest
You build your castles in the skies
Stars reflecting off your eyes
And angels sing on silver clouds
And no one cries screams or shouts'

Ooohh set apart this dream
Set apart this dream for me
Set apart this dream
For me

Close your eyes pretty girl cause its easier when you brace yourself
Set your thoughts on a world far off
Where we only cry from joy

Ooohh set apart this dream
Set apart this dream for me
Set apart this dream
For me

Oh lovely and beautiful
Precious and priceless
You're so much more than you know
Heart of the purest gold
Pure clean and white as snow
Clothed in such splendor
Oh what a beauty for me.

Set apart this dream
Set apart this dream

Ooohh set apart this dream (set apart this dream)
Set apart this dream(set apart this dream for me)
Set apart this dream for me

Digital Re-decorating

Lately I have been pondering on re-decorating my room ( since I now actually have a room with four walls as opposed to having all my stuff in the dining room. :P ) and I think I have settled upon a design...

Here's the room now....

So I decided to take this picture and play around with ideas in Photoshop Elements
and here is what I have come up with...

more or less this is what I think I would like....
(please ignore the poor editing skills. :P )

Thursday

I don't know if you guys remember, but a while back I made a R2-D2 cake for my nephews birthday. Well when I was in the process of making the cake, our five year old neighbor was over visiting, and before I had even iced the cake, he exclaimed "R2-D2!!". Ever since then he has gone on and about how for his 6th Birthday he wanted "Dantha" on make him an R2-D2 cake.
This weekend he had his 6th birthday party and he got his wish. He was so excited that everytime someone showed up he ran up to them and said, "Come look at my R2-D2 cake!!!"
Adding to the excitement of last weekend, I also received a whole new set of amazing cake decorating tools! :)

It's 40 things in a tool box for $40. I am soo excited and can't wait to try all the new tips and such.
Will surely be posting pictures of all my experiments :P

Sara Edwards

"They say there is a young lady in New Haven who is beloved of that Great Being who made and rules the world. They say that He fills her mind with exceeding sweet delight, and that she hardly cares for anything except to meditate on Him. If you present all the world to her, with the riches of its treasures, she disregards it. She is unmindful of any pain of affliction. She has a singular purity in her affections. You could not persuade her to compromise her true Love even if you would give her all the world. She possesses a wonderful sweetness, calmness, and kindness to those around her. She will sometimes go about from place to place, singing sweetly. She seems to be always full of joy and pleasure, and no on knows exactly why. She loves to be alone, walking in the fields and groves, and seems to have someone invisible always conversing with her."

This is written of Sara Edwards (my new role-model) by her future husband Jonathon Edwards.
My ultimate goal, is to have that radiating beauty she had by making Christ her first priority, her source for life.

Monday

Thursday

Well...I was planning on posting a blog with a few pictures... But... I canNOT find the cord that goes from the camera to the computer.

I must ask... Why is it, that when you know exactly where something is..........
 it's not there?!?!

Random musings from a frustrated person.

please excuse.

Have a great night.

Trying to take pictures with my "point and shoot" simple camera has made me aware at just how much I want a really nice camera. Although I am thankful for what I have, I am definitely adding that to my wish list! ;D

Planting Chums

So I've decided to participate in a giveaway for the first time, and Planting Chums over at Aspire seemed a wonderful one to start with. (:

To enter all ya have to do is create a post with four random things about you.
so here we go.

1.) I do not like pizza.
yes i have been told many a time just how insane that is.

2.) Once when I was younger, while making a batch of cookies,I leaned over a little too far while using the mixer and well.... I had to part my hair extra over to the side and pin it down quite some time afterwards. ( the funny thing was I didn't even realize it had happened until I noticed the ruined cookies. I ran into my mother's room and exclaimed, "I think I pulled my hair out!" She mentioned that she could tell because of the bald spot on my head. Yet it did not hurt until I looked at it, then and only then did it become painful. Why is that?)

3.) I cannot stand windows at night. I get so creeped out!
(The most probable reason for this fear, it the fact that one Disciple Now weekend the house we were staying at had huge un-curtained windows. Which at one point in the night I awoke to the jr. high boys standing outside the window, TPing the house. Quite a shocking moment I assure you.)

3.) I used to be on a jump-rope team.Yup. For about a year (i think?) I was a part of the wonderful local jump rope team, where I learned quite a many complicated jump-rope trick. My specialty? Speed, and double dutch speed.
yup this was me:

hmm. well maybe not quite that fast. ;P
I was in elementary after all.

and that concludes my random facts.
(I had no Idea how hard it is to come up with "random" facts. haha)

Beauty in God's Eyes.

Beauty in the World's Eyes:
- skinny
- swimsuit body
- curvy(but not too much)
- perfect skin
- tall
- silky hair
- skimpy clothes
- fashionable clothes
- Perfect, white teeth
- loads of make-up
- Catching every guys eyes

Beauty in God's Eyes
- not lazy (proberbs 31 verses 13,14,15,17,27)
- serves her family (vs. 12,15,21)
- serves others (12,15,20,24)
- is financially smart (16, 18, 24)
- doesn't worry, and puts her faith in God (25)
- has wisdom (26)

The two lists are drastically different, which one to choose?

1 John 2:17 says "The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever."

why, oh why, would we spend so much time and effort chasing after something that is passing away? And I might add is utterly unachievable? All of the models in magazines that girls are starving themselves to look like, are completely fake.Their pictures have been edited to make their waist smaller, or there eyes bigger, or there teeth brighter. No one really looks that way.

It's all about attracting guy's eyes, but are the guys your attracting the right kind of guys? If you truly have a relationship with Christ, and desire to live in his likeliness, that is NOT the type of guy you want to attract. God has that guy for you (or not if his plan requires). He'll bring him to you at the right moment, God doesn't need our help.

Looking at the list of God's view of beauty might also seem unachievable but as James 1:5 says "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him."

All you have to do is ask.God is waiting to turn us into women who radiate GOD's beauty, not or own.

Its not about us, or our identity. Our identity should be God. Not only does our Identity need to reflect God, God is our Identity

Just some things that are on my heart while I'm reading "The Lost Art of True Beauty" by Leslie Ludy.
I'm planning on going through this book with the girls in my jr. high sunday school class. I'm planning on doing this comparison of the World's beauty and God's beauty as an introductory lesson.
God is just speaking to me so much right now, its such a blessing to hear His voice and be reassured of his plan for me.

Froggy love.

So... I know it is late, but I am still up because I just got done decorating a cake for a friend of mines baby shower tomorrow. There was some complications (hence the lateness of it being done) but i am very pleased with the way it turned out. Thought I'd share ;) ( sorry for the horrible quality of the pictures).

Thursday

Wow haven't blogged in a little while, copious amounts of things have been going on! ( trying to slip in more vocabulary ;P ) School is nearing to the end, so I have been busy studying, and writing research papers. I probably won't blog very much until next month when all of that will be over! (sigh of relief)

I have also, to help me relax, have been working on many sewing projects. From refashioning clothes that I already have, to designing and creating my own clothes. I'm very excited about my creations thus far, and hope to post some pictures soon!

now off to read Hamlet!
:)

Random thoughts...

How can we see and experience everything in this world, the things that God has made...
The birds, the trees, the flowers, ants...all of it...
and not fall to our faces in wonder and amazement of Him?
These things around us are so beautiful....that I can't even begin to think how wonderful it all was (and will be again) before it was cursed.

I love being creative, and when a project I'm working on goes will, I'm extremely proud of it. But the things i have made are NOTHING to the marvelous things God has made for us to enjoy.
Whats a pretty skirt, to an Old Oak tree with leaves turning colors, each one just as beautiful as the other?
Whats a drawing, compared to a majestic blue mountain?
Whats a poem, to God's Word: a beautiful love story meant just for us?

I can only imagine how much love He has for us, his most precious creation.

Then I think of the times I have began a project, and it just won't turn out right. I get so frustrated that I give up on the project.
Thank God that He does not act the same way!
He created us, and although we have messed up big time, He has not (or ever will) given up on us. How amazing is He, that He was willing to go through so much trouble, for us who are so un-deserving... just so that we could spend eternity with Him!

I'm not sure why I have written this... I am just feeling particularly overwhelmed with God and His Love! (:

"8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
Ephesians 2:8-10

[and I just have to share that I found this bible verse after having written this, during my bible study. I thought it went along perfectly. Isn't God great? (: ]

Friday

A good friend and I recently took a trip to a near by arboretum to take a hike. It was very muddy, but very fun. (:
Here's some pictures I took along the way.

This was a lovely old farm house. As my little brother calls it, its the "Clue" house. ;)

Thursday

Busy Little Creative Bee.

I have been feeling particularly creative lately, and have taken to re-purposing a lot of my clothing. It's so much fun taking something that I maybe didn't really like, and then putting my style into it, and making it something that i never want to take off! Also I have been taking clothes that weren't so modest, and using scrap fabric to change that. I might post some before and after pictures later.

Getting the Idea from this blog, I've been making these cute little fabric flowers. I've been using them for my hair, but could use these to put on clothes, bags, etc. Just love the idea.

I cut out some "flower shapes" from fabric...

and then put the edges of the flowers just above the flame of a candle, so that the heat curls the edges...
Then sew them together with a few beads in the middle and ...Viola!
Here's a few I have already made...

I love 'em.(:

Wednesday

Winter Wonderland.

Here's just some pictures of the lovely snow we had a few weeks ago...

Tuesday

Scholarship.

This Saturday I find out if I have been picked to receive a full theater college scholarship. Full as in pays for everything... classes, dorm, food, everything! How much of a blessing would that be?

I'm not extremely confident that I got it... just because on the day of the audition I had trouble because I was just getting over being sick and feverish. I had trouble remembering my monologue (which by the way I loved, it was an excerpt from Funny
Girl which you can read here) but I explained why, and they completly understood and let me just read the monologue instead of saying by memory. Although I had a lot of things going for me: they absolutely loved the fact that I play the piano, and that I had done puppets for so long, and also new how to make them.

I am wanting to be in theatre because i'm leaning towards Evangelical Dramas. I would love to either be in a group that does that, or create one. I really feel a calling to focus on youth, and I feel that they respond more to dramas, because they reflect their own lives.

But I'm confident that God's in control and that if this is in his plan, I will get the scholarship ( which will truly be a Miracle be cause of the sad shape I was in. :P ).

Friday

Star Wars.

My nephew, who has turned 6, is having his birthday party in a Star Wars theme (Him and 12 year old brother can't get enough of it).
So for his party I have made him an R-2 D-2 cake.

I'm pretty proud of it. ;)
